Stillness Is My Meditation: The Power of Surrender and Receiving
For me, meditation is stillness because it is the most receptive, feminine state.
There are so many different ways to meditate and all of them are good and helpful. But for me, stillness is the best way because it’s the only form of meditation that allows me to full surrender and receive.
Stillness begins in my body. I get into a comfortable position that I know I can hold for a long time.
I begin by focusing on my lower body. I bring my awareness to my toes and feet, my ankles, my calves, knees, thighs and hips.
I don’t think about them, I just bring awareness to them and I breathe. I had a yoga teacher who used to say, “Open your pores— windows and doors!” I took that to mean to bring awareness to my pores and breathe in and out of them. That is how I let my breath move through my body.
Then I move my awareness into my torso, and I imagine my guts inside being bathed in the light of my awareness.
I then move my awareness to my bum, back and spine. My shoulders, my arms, and hands… My belly, breasts and neck… I just move my awareness through all these.
There’s a oneness that washes over me as I bring my awareness to these parts of my body.
After I move my awareness into my face and head, I begin to unite my body with my awareness. I become aware of my whole body as one unit of light… Because that’s the truth. I Am Light.
When I find that place of oneness, I am in a state of atonement— at-one-ment. And then I just breathe.
