Perimenopause Symptoms Are Not Random: The Emotional and Spiritual Roots No One Talks About
What are some of your perimenopause symptoms?
I have a friend who is a functional medicine doctor, and I love talking to her because she is so matter of fact about difficult things. She does not get overly emotional, and there is something effervescent about her that makes our conversations refreshing.
But I am not like her. I am a person who has gone through trauma, and I am deeply connected to my emotions. 💔 Because of this, I believe strongly in not using medicine to cover up anything without first doing the deeper inner emotional work.
I do believe in medicine and medication, but I believe in them AFTER I have done my own spiritual work—after I have connected to my spirit guides, had a conversation with my ancestors, and worked with my own inner child.
🔥 Pain Is a Spirit Guide
For me, pain is a spirit guide that can show me where there is a wound, where there is disease, where there is a problem. Pain can also lead me to solutions and show me where my ancestors need healing.
If I am masking my pain or covering it up without addressing the deeper cause, then I am not helping my ancestors and I am not helping myself. I am just coping, and I do not want to cope. I want to be thriving.
This is why I approach perimenopause for myself and my clients differently than most service providers do.
💔 Why Perimenopause Is Not Just a Hormone Problem
When women talk about perimenopause, they talk about hot flashes, mood swings, weight gain, brain fog, exhaustion, rage. These symptoms are real and they need to be addressed.
Most women go to their doctor, who runs tests and talks about hormone replacement therapy. And this is good. I appreciate doctors and what they can do.
But here is what your doctor will not ask you…
😱 Did you experience trauma in your early childhood that is making you have this reaction to the symptoms you are experiencing?
😒 What emotional weight are you carrying that is showing up in your body right now?
🤔 What is your soul calling you to create? What purpose is trying to emerge through this transformation?
Your doctor will not ask you these questions because your doctor is trained to treat the body, to manage the hormones, and to relieve the symptoms. But treating just the hormones without treating the emotions, the trauma, the purpose is incomplete.
🦋 The Right Sequence
I am not going to see my doctor for my own HRT until I have had a good talk with my God, my ancestors, my spirit guides, and my own physical body. I need to listen to what my body is trying to tell me. I need to do the spiritual work, heal the foundational fear wounds that are keeping me stuck, and connect with my purpose.
Once I do that, then I can go see my doctor with wisdom—with the wisdom of my ancestors, the wisdom of my body, and the wisdom of God coursing through my veins. That is why my hormone replacement therapy will work for me, because I will have done my work and I will be guided with clarity and light.
✨ What Your Doctor Won’t Tell You About Purpose
Perimenopause is not just a physical transition. It is a spiritual transition. Your body is breaking down what no longer serves you so something new can emerge. Your soul is dismantling the structures you built when you were younger so you can build something truer.
🦋 This is the chrysalis, where the old self has to die so the new self can be born. And part of that new self is your purpose—the thing you are meant to create, the calling that has been waiting inside you.
Perimenopause is the storm that forces you to pay attention to that calling. The symptoms are not random. They are your body saying stop. Stop ignoring what your soul is asking for. Stop living for everyone else. Stop putting your purpose last.
Friend, I am not against HRT or doctors or medical treatment. But HRT alone will not give you purpose, and without purpose, perimenopause just feels like suffering.
You need both. You need medical support for the body and you need spiritual and purpose work for the soul.
If you are in perimenopause right now, listen to your body. Talk to God, your ancestors, your spirit guides. Do the spiritual work. And then go to your doctor with wisdom, with clarity, with light.
This is how you rock perimenopause instead of just surviving it.
